Waukesha ATGL type

line of gas engine CHP plant ATGL type enabled to expand the power range of offered equipment Waukesha over than 3 MW. ATGL Waukesha have been manufactured in high volume over than 20 years and our plant produced and supplied over than 500 units of these plants, most of them are still working as drive of compressor equipment and generating energy. Gas engines ATGL are carburetor engines running on depleted fuel mixture and consequently those engines have low fuel consumption level and minimal emission level.

Standard engine’s presets ensure optimal balance between fuel consumption and emission level, however when the engine is operated it can be adjusted while operating either to less fuel consumption or to decreasing emission level of NOx depending on specific of a facility. Fuel mixture comes into combustion chamber through preignition chamber. It allows to increase efficiency of the engine and to reduce noxious emissions by means of rising lambda up to 2.

Every engine is equipped with electronic component CEC (Custom Engine Control). That is Air/Fuel Module (AFM) controls the air-fuel ratio of fuel mixture. Lambda sensor is tracing oxygen component in emission. Sensor’s electrical signal contains information about air-fuel ratio (lambda) of fuel mixture. AFM determines if the current value corresponds to the set value.. In case of discrepancy module gives a command to gas-regulation system u1080 to change its settings that controls fuel feed to carburetor. Interior diameter of lapping ring is less than cylinder liner diameter. This design feature reduces carbon build up on a piston, thereby even operating clearance between the piston and the cylinder liner is provided. Therefore carbon-black-caused damages are eliminated and finally cylinder liners can be operated much longer.

Three configurations of ATGL engines are issued: 8L, 12V and 16V. Those engines are low-speed (1000 rpm), have big volume and low level of average-effective pressure. Engines extremely suits for running on heavy types of gaseous fuel such as petroleum gas that has high content of liquid fractions.

ATGL engines use wide range of recent developments that significantly increased reliability of engines and raised its utility characteristics. In particular, in ATGL engines cooling system was upgraded (cooling system of valve seat was added and it allows to maintain optimal temperature of engine thereby it extends service life period).
Slow speed, big volume of engine, use of recent developments considerably reduce operating costs in those engines. In particular, oil changing in series ATGL engines is performed every 4 000 hours and full repair is performed one time in 80 000 machine hours.
