Waukesha VHP type

First gas engine CHP plant of VHP (Very High Power) type was designed and put into mass production by «Waukesha Engine Dresser, Inc» in the middle 1960s. They were the most powerful engines of the whole product line at that time and they were first engines in the world that were able to use petroleum gas as a fuel. Engines of VHP type needed less than 10 years to establish themselves as a leader in oil and gas production, it was VHP that have become major engines using in driving piston and radial flow compressors, turbine and centrifugal pumps, drilling rigs and electric generators.

Following development of gas engine technologies, innovative material activity, possibility of manufacturing and customer requests new designs of Waukesha engineers found use in VHP immediately. This way new types of this model came into service, the latest one “4th Series” was introduced in 1999.

Ability to run on heavy types of gaseous fuel such as petroleum gas, reliability and high performance made VHP type engines the most popular among gas-and-oil producing and processing companies worldwide.

So far more than 20 000 VHP type engines operating all over the world. Product attribute of VHP type engines is high utilization factor. Great amount of our customers confirmed fact that VHP type engines can operate 98% of its lifetime and only 2% of it takes planned maintenance service and repair, operational lifetime is more than 250 000 hours.
